The Jenni Kayne show left me impressed--and dying to know what stores are going to stock her clothes this Spring. The collection consisted of fun, wearable pieces, distinguishable from competing designers by perfect execution. When shopping for Spring 2007, look no further than Jenni Kayne for a sweet lace dress, the perfect babydoll, or some ultra short shorts.
Jenni Kayne succeeded in producing items which are sure to be hot sellers; namely, leather jackets and coats in candy colors, and adorable babydoll dresses with bubble hems. In the competitive environment that is the fashion business right now (more on this later), coming out with "it" items is a smart business move for the designer. Though Miss Kayne already counts Mischa Barton as sa fan, and, judging from the audience, plenty of very stylish women, these hot ticket items will generate buzz (I'm willing to bet we'll see these key pieces in magazines) and put Jenni Kayne on the fashion map for many more stylish young women.
Photos: Coutorture is having trouble getting photos up, so in the interest of posting timely reviews, I've borrowed these from Style.com. The above photos are select looks which I feel represent the best in the collection. To see the rest of the collection, click here.

The color palette is gorgeous; very unexpected for a spring/summer collection.

I love Jenni Kayne, and I'm so glad you're covering her show.
However, I'm commenting because I am really interested in your take on the "it" item. I was under the impression that "it" items were on their way out, and that consumers may have finally figured out that they have their own drummers with follow-able beats...
or maybe thats wishful thinking ;o)

Kim, I agree that some of the colors were unexpected. But for me I wasn't thinking in terms of seasons--I was thinking that there wouldn't be as many multicolor looks as there were (I didn't select those looks above) given the color trends for Spring 2007 resort.
Joi, you make a good point. I thought about my word choice after I posted and I suppose I better clarify: when I say "it" item, I didn't mean it would be like a...Murakami or something...or even say...a trend that magazines really push in articles about how you must buy a trench or ankle boots. I simply meant that she came out with a few different items that customers in her target market are going to notice and demand; items that won't be "it" items in the fashion market at large but in her target market and which will serve to bring attention to her work and her talent. ;)

The pieces look very wearable and flattering... far more wearable than a drop waisted dress. I haven't worn a drop waisted dress in a long time, but I am betting that it is harder to pull off than it looks.

Replica jerseys are becoming rapidly popular as regular attire. And therefore, you will notice many teenagers donning a Bill Russell or Oscar Robertson jersey in pubs, colleges and discos. In fact, nfl jerseyseven individuals who are not nba fans have started wearing cheap mlb jerseys sthese jerseys as a style statement.

It’s interesting and fun to see things from the other side of the gender coin. It’s often not too terribly different. Thanks, friend.

Never leave young children alone or allow them to play in damaged buildings or areas that might be unsafe.

We live, in fact, in a world starved for solitude, silence, and private: and therefore starved for meditation and true friendship. Do you agree?
