3D Histogram
During a recent "you have reached the end of the web"-style browsing session, I stumbled upon what looks to be a powerful tool for color research: 3D Histogram, an open source web application from Minneapolis-based Third Ave Design.
3D Histogram "provides a visualization of the overall color composition of an image by placing cubes in a 3D space whose X, Y, and Z values correspond to the R, G, and B values of the color being graphed." Each cube is "painted with the color it represents, and then sized according to its relative frequency in the image."
The fashion-related applications are endless--you could use it to research color trends, to get a firm grasp of color theory, or to understand the effects of lighting and texture on color. Above are yields from a "swatch" image of the Fall '08 Thakoon dress pictured at left. Now if only the data were downloadable in spreadsheet form...

I may be going out on a limb by asking you for promotional help through your blog, but I hope you find ColorMeGorgeous.com to be as news worthy/helpful as I perceive it to be. There's still a lot of work to be done with it, but I'm working on it. It's hard to compete when you're a small fish in a huge sea with huge sites like MUA and the likes, but I do what I can :) My favorite part of the site is the 'critic's corner' where members can review or read up on various product reviews for makeup and skincare. Then there's always the forum, the photo gallery, the ask a makeup artist page, etc.

I heard Jessica Alba say in an interview that she used this product called Abs in a Box to get her pre-baby body back. Then I saw these products by a company called It Cosmetics www.itcosmetics.com on the Today Show so I thought I would try them. I TOTALLY look like I've lost 15 lbs instantly and I feel like I'm finally able to get that in-shape look I've been working so hard for in the gym. I used their ABS IN A BOX and SMOKIN' HOT LEGS. I am now going to order the MY BEAUTIFUL BREASTS kit.

I think there is a new wave in fashion and it is body makeup...I bet in a matter of time all models will be using body makeup to scult there already perfect bodies. It cosmetics carries a great line of waterproof body makeup that I think all should look into.
