Aesthetics + Economics is my attempt to find an outlet for an intense interest in fashion and design in general. Fashion Hack: Walk in Heels

There have been no shortage of runway falls in the past few seasons. At left, we have poor Elise Crombez taking a dive at Proenza Schouler SS 07, and just the other day a model at the Dior 2008 Resort show (yes, resort is already here, can you believe it?!), had some high heel-related difficulties herself. And, as I'm sure you've noticed, sky high heels and platforms--often exceeding 5 inches--are everywhere at the moment.

Even if you're comfortable walking in your 110mm Louboutins, you may want to check out Legwork, a workout video dedicated to the art of walking in heels. The preview offers tips for correcting "wobbly ankles," "stiff knees," and (my personal favorite) "gripping of the thighs." Featured in Vogue Paris, among other esteemed pubs, the 30-minute DVD features exercises from professional dancers for grace and stamina as well as relief techniques from podiatrists. My thinking: judging from the If you're going to drop half a grand (or more) on a pair of 110mm heels, you may as well invest a fraction of that in a fun DVD that allows you to work them with confidence.

I love catwalk spills. It adds character to an industry obsessed with perfection. Though, I would almost force one of the girls to fall if I could. I remember how much that picture of the Vivienne Westwood fall got circulated around the internet a few years ago. wildfire.

I hate to admit it, but I love the falls too. It's all pomp ansd circumstance until someone kisses the catwalk. It adds a bit of levity to an otherwise formal affair. Ironically...the spills give extra publicity to otherwise little discussed shows.

On to the video, I have heard this is an amazing way to tone the legs. I'll have to check it out now that you've reminded me of it.

Just don't tell the models ;)

Well, didnt the asian trend of girls wearing super high gothicish boots result in the same thing?

Luckily, I havent taken any spills in heels in a long time. The closest was skidding across the floor, thats scary enough.

Gripping of the thighs - just that term single-handedly made my day.

I think my favorite teetering-on-heels moment was the watering can girl at Vivienne Westwood - poor thing! lol

I dont get the point of splurging on shoes and fearing the concept of walking (thats how I would be: overcome with fear at the concept of putting one foot in front of the next) I am so bad with heels and yet they look sooooo faahbulous on others...maybe I should just get that DVD...lol
